Ep. 24 - More Than Just A Mom: Owning A Business While Rewriting The Rules Of Motherhood

Today we're diving into a topic that doesn't get nearly enough attention: what it really looks like to be a business owner and a mom.

I became a mom a little over two years ago. And if you're anything like me, you probably grew up thinking you had to choose that you could either build an incredible career or be a present mom.

You were taught that you can't have both.

But I am here to tell you that that's not true.

This episode is for the mamas out there who are packing snacks and dreams all at the same time. For the woman who is fully booked in her spa and fully overwhelmed by the weight of it all.

You are not alone, and you are not doing it wrong.

The Myth That You Have to Choose

Here's the thing: A lot of us were raised to chase success. Type A, high-achieving women. We get the degrees, we climb the ladder, we build the businesses.

And many of us were also raised with this deep desire for motherhood—to be present, to raise good humans, and to create a loving home.

But no one really told us how those two dreams are supposed to fit together.

How do you be a CEO and a mom? How do you be booked in your business and also present at home without feeling like you're failing at both?

Because that's exactly what it felt like.

I remember when I was pregnant, I had this vision of what my life would look like. I thought I would still be on all the calls, in all the meetings, keeping the same schedule, but just now with a baby in a cute wrap on my chest.

Yeah, no. That's so far from the reality.

Motherhood has changed everything. It's changed my schedule, my capacity. But I'm realizing it's changed my identity.

And I found myself wondering: Who am I now? Can I still be that woman in business and also be this new version of me as a mom?

I feel like that's a question a lot of us are sitting with.

Motherhood Doesn't Kill Ambition—It Fuels It

It's so easy to fall into this worry or trap that we need to shrink ourselves once we have kids. To just give so unconditionally that we lose ourselves in it.

But that's not the case.

I heard this woman say something recently, and it just hit me so perfectly right in the chest. She said:

"What I didn't expect was that motherhood wouldn't quiet my ambition—it would amplify it."

And I was like, YES. YES. That is exactly it.

There's this story that we're told that once you become a mom, your ambition is supposed to fade, like it's somehow selfish to want more.

But for so many of us, becoming a mom actually makes us more driven.

You start seeing the world differently. You start asking better questions and craving more freedom, more impact, more purpose.

And when you're holding a baby in one arm and a dream in the other, you start to realize just how freaking powerful you really are.

I remember during nap times (and I'm still doing this), I get these insane bursts of clarity. These ideas just start flowing to me.

I was exhausted and overwhelmed, sure. But I was also SO inspired. And that inspiration turned into action.

It definitely was not the most pretty action. It was quite messy a lot of times. But little by little, it actually made things happen.

It's how this podcast happened and how the whole consulting side of my business came to be.

The Spa Owner's Dilemma

I want to speak directly to you—the spa owner who is fully booked, fully tired, fully wondering how this is supposed to work.

You love your clients and your craft. But you're tired of being the only one holding it all together.

And on top of that, you're trying to be present at home and raise your kids and keep your house from burning down, all while wondering when that little moment to breathe will come.

Listen to me: You are not burned out because you're doing something wrong.

You're burned out because you've been trying to be everything to everyone without letting yourself be you.

You don't have to prove you can do it all. If you just let yourself create a business that supports your life—not one that drains it—you can have it all.

What if you gave yourself permission to be fully both? A mom and a leader and a dreamer and a doer.

It Might Have Started With Motherhood, But You're So Much More Than That

Here's the truth: For many of us, it started with being a mom. Motherhood woke us up to what really matters. It forced us to get clear. And it made us insanely brave.

And we were already brave to begin with.

But that's not where your story ends.

You are more than just a mom. You are more than just a business owner.

You are a woman rewriting the rules.

You get to define what success looks like. You get to choose how your time is spent. And you get to decide that "good enough" is no longer the standard.

There is a whole world waiting to be inspired by your story. And you don't need to have it figured out to start sharing it.

You Are Not Alone

If you're listening to this right now and you feel seen, I want you to know:

  • You are not alone

  • You're not doing anything wrong

  • You're not behind

  • You're not selfish for wanting more

You are bougie and brilliant and bold. You are a fierce woman who is building something powerful for yourself and for your family.

And this is just the beginning.
