Ep. 26 - Quick win or big picture reset?
If you've ever felt like you're hustling nonstop and still not moving forward, today's episode is perfect for you.
Because the truth is, spa owners usually fall into one of two camps:
They need a really quick win to create immediate relief
They need a big picture reset to finally stop running on the hamster wheel
Let's figure out which one is you, and then how to address it.
Are You Seeking Quick Wins?
You're hustling hard to just make it all meet in the middle.
You're in quick win mode if:
You're worried about making payroll this week
You want more clients in the door RIGHT NOW
You're Googling things like "promotions that work fast" or "how to get booked quickly"
You're stressing over today's empty spots on the books
You need a short-term bump in revenue
Solutions for Quick Wins
1. Reach out to clients who haven't been in for 60-90 days with a personal invitation back.
This needs to be something personal from you—warm and inviting. It's not just: "Hey Jane Doe, I'd love to see you."
It's: "Hey Susie! How was your honeymoon?" or "I know you just had baby number two. How are you feeling? I would love to catch up with you. I have some openings next week if you're needing a little break."
Make that genuine connection. This is a reactivation campaign, and it can be done every quarter or even every other month.
2. Upsell to your current clients.
It's SO much easier to sell to a currently existing client than getting a brand new client in the door.
Offer an add-on at checkout: "Would you like to add on a brow or upper lip for your next service? Or even today?"
Be of service to that person.
3. Do a mini buy-one-get-one gift card push for the weekend only.
This is really great for holiday weekends or just a weekend boost.
4. Go through your waitlist.
Call the clients on your waitlist, offer them open spots for this week, and put that money back in your hands without training clients to expect a discount.
Once you get to a place where you're not in this scarcity quick-win place, that's when we can start focusing on the bigger picture.
Do You Need a Big Picture Reset?
If you're not panicked about this week but you're saying things like "This isn't sustainable" or "I feel stuck in the treatment room forever," you don't need a band-aid. You need an actual reset.
You need a big picture reset if:
You're constantly busy but your paycheck doesn't reflect it
You feel guilty or overwhelmed when leading your team
You've outgrown the provider role and are ready to step into leadership
This is your next step. Your next level.
Solutions for a Big Picture Reset
1. Do a 90-day employee reset.
Focus on your team with clear goals that increase retention and reduce payroll waste.
2. Rework your pay structure.
Move from "just enough to keep the team happy" to a model that also pays YOU consistently and rewards THEM for working hard.
3. Create a delegation plan.
Start by taking 10 client hours off your schedule and shift that time to leadership work. Figure out where you want to work ON your business instead of IN it.
4. Market very clearly.
Niche down to one of your bestsellers—your signature service—so your spa becomes the go-to authority in your community.
These big picture resets are about building a foundation for consistently paying yourself, giving you the flexibility you're craving, and creating a more sustainable long-term growth plan.
Which One Feels More Urgent?
Be honest with yourself.
If you're lying awake worried about this week's revenue → You need a quick win.
If you're lying awake wondering if you can keep running like this → You need a reset. A big picture reset.
Your Next Step
This week, sit down and talk with yourself, your spouse, your coach if you have one: Do you need immediate relief or lasting change?
There's no wrong answer. You just need to make a decision and make a move so you can see something change.
Because what you're doing right now is not working if these are the things you're feeling. We need to change what you're doing to get a different result.
Write down your answer and commit to one solution from the list I gave you today.
Need help figuring out which path is right for you?
Fill out this intake form to book a discovery call with me. Let me know what's going on, what your biggest struggle is, and I'd be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
I primarily focus on the spa owner who's going from solo to team—wanting to bring on their first employee or first esthetician. Or maybe you already have an esthetician or two and you're not sure how to step into that leadership role and really start gaining momentum with a team on your side.
Whether you need a quick win or a full reset, you do not have to figure it out alone. This is exactly what I help spa owners do. Stabilize their revenue and step into leadership with confidence.
