Ep. 74 - My Social Media Method

How to Make Social Media Fun Again: The Client Perspective Shift Every Spa Owner Needs

If social media feels like something you dread, here is the thing nobody tells you: you've been using it wrong.

Not wrong in a way that's your fault. Wrong in a way that makes total sense given how busy and overwhelmed most spa owners are. You've been going on as the owner, looking at what other spas are doing, comparing yourself, trying to keep up, and wondering why it's exhausting you.

The fix is simpler than you think. Go on as the client.

The One Shift That Makes Everything Easier

Here's what this looks like in practice. When you open Instagram, you're not going on to post, to scroll out of habit, or to see what your competitors are doing. You're going on with one specific question in mind: are these my people?

Think about your dreamiest clients. The ones you love to see on your books. What do they have in common? What makes them laugh? What makes them feel safe and comfortable and cared for? That's your filter. That's the lens you use when you scroll.

When you find a reel that would resonate with that person, forward it to your spa account. Not to copy it, but to use it as inspiration. Something that wasn't originally created for a spa can become something completely fresh and new when you apply it to your space.

This is also how you avoid showing up like every other spa on the internet. When you're pulling from your personal feed rather than your spa feed, you're not recycling the same trends everyone else in your industry is already doing.

A System That Takes Less Than Two Minutes

Once you have a clear sense of what your client responds to, the actual content creation becomes fast. Here's the system that has been working for me.

Keep a folder on your phone for each esthetician on your team. Keep another one for general spa footage: morning light coming through the windows, a walkthrough of the space, quiet moments throughout the day. Record things in the moment and drop them straight into those folders. Don't wait until later because later never comes.

When you're ready to create, pull up an Instagram reel template. The Edits app has them, and creators will often share the original audio and template so all you have to do is swap in your footage. The text, the captions, the cuts are already done. You're just plugging in your videos. That's it.

Then batch everything out two to three weeks at a time and schedule it. You're done. You don't have to think about it again until next month.

The result? Reels consistently pulling ten times more views than static posts, with a fraction of the effort.

You Don't Have to Do This Alone

A virtual assistant is one of the best investments a spa owner can make when it comes to social media. Not to replace your creativity but to handle the heavy lifting: scheduling, uploading, organizing, responding. You stay in the role of creator and visionary. They handle the execution.

If a full VA isn't in the budget yet, there are part-time options, college marketing students, and platforms like Fiverr that can get you support at a lower cost. The goal is to get the work off your plate so you can actually show up on social media with energy instead of obligation.

Social media is not supposed to cost you your peace. When you go on as a client, create from a place of genuine connection, and build a system that does the heavy lifting for you, it stops being a chore and starts being one of the most powerful tools in your spa business.
